Authority: U.S. Code 18 – section 3182 thru 3196 § 3182. Fugitives from State or Territory to State, District, or Territory Whenever the executive authority of any State or Territory demands any person as a fugitive from justice, of the executive authority of any State, District, or Territory to which such person has fled, and produces a copy of an indictment found or an affidavit made before a magistrate of any State or Territory, charging the person demanded with having committed treason, felony, or other crime, certified as authentic by the governor or chief magistrate of the State or Territory from whence the person so charged has fled, the executive authority of the State, District, or Territory to which such person has fled shall cause him to be arrested and secured, and notify the executive authority making such demand, or the agent of such authority appointed to receive the fugitive, and shall cause the fugitive to be delivered to such agent when he shall appear. Fugitive Warrants and Transportation Unit the 24 hour number is 708-365-9117 or email extradite@usextradition.org GPS Location Sharing:All agents whom are on extradition duty will grant real-time GPS location of vehicles used for extradition and ETA to the requesting Sherriff’s Department and \ or court Personnel based on GPS calculations.Onsite Confirmation:An onsite notification will be sent to the Lake County Indiana Sheriff’s Department via email when agents arrive at the target location (arresting agency). Vehicles:All vehicles used for extradition will match the following description:1. Color – Black, Dark Blue, Tan, Silver or White2. Make – Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Infinity, GMC3. Models – Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition, Explorer, Vans, Charger, Impala, Crown Victoria, 300, Etc.All agents are required have proper equipment and emergency vehicle lighting on vehicles used for extradition to include red, white, blue and yellow. All agents will have reflective clothing and necessary equipment to assist in the event of an emergency. All vehicles will be equipped with event recorders (front facing, rear facing and internal).
Verifications:An active agent list will be provided by U.S. Fugitive Extradition Bureau for verification purposes by the the county Sheriff’s Department Warrants Division, Transportation Division and \ or Superior Court Criminal Division. The list will include a photo of the agent, name, phone number, badge number etc.
Ethics:Ethics rules will be followed as describe in the U.S. Fugitive Extradition Bureau Policies and Procedures Manual.
Use Of Force:Use of force and combative control tactics rules will be followed as describe in the U.S. Fugitive Enforcement Bureau Policies and Procedure Manual.
2018 Fee Schedule:$1.15 to 2.50 per mile with at $280.00 minimum per request per individual per vehicle.Scheduled release or date specific extradition $900.00 Per request per individual up to 300 MilesUnlimited Rates (Flat Rates are available upon Request via email).
Meals:During Extradition the prisoners will be fed meals every 3-4 hours.
